Our Favourite Silver Chains for Women: 2021
We love our silver chains for women. Traditionally the mainstay of men's jewellery, classic chains for women have only been popular for a few decades. They are also often featured in gold but today we'd like to showcase our favourite silver chains as an alternative to classic gold chains.
Different Silver Chains for Women
Whether you are a fan of big-box chains or delicate links, silver chains are now available in a wide variety of styles, thicknesses and lengths.
Classic Silver Chains
The most common silver chains for women and men have been the classic Cuban chain. The Cuban chain is an example of a curb style chain. Curb chains are a simple and classic design of flat, interlocking, identical links. They are often chunky in appearance though there are many more delicate versions now. A take on the class Cuban chain is the Double Link Curb Chain that features tighter interlocking links. If you like the traditional chain styles but want something less chunky than a Cuban, you can opt for Figaro, another classic chain style. This is a cable chain with flattened links that are not uniform in size. It features two to three shorter links separated by a longer link.
Snake Silver Chains
Silver snake chains are an elegant addition to any jewellery collection. They are made of slightly curved plates tightly woven with very thin links to form a continuous chain. The surface is very smooth and can appear almost flat but the chain is very flexible. The thickness can be minuscule, making it a delicate piece for an outfit. Our silver snake chains come in 2.5mm and 1mm thickness with both available in several different lengths. Great for day to night looks, the sophisticated snake chain can easily be dressed up or dressed down.
Unique Chain styles
The selection of chain styles is much greater today with unique ways of creating chains in both silver and gold. Rope chains consist of links that have been carefully woven together forming twisted, rope-like lengths of chain. Our Rope Chains come in several thicknesses and lengths and form a beautiful silver chain for any styled outfit. Box chains are made with a series of cube-shaped links using a rounded wire that is then flattened and shaped into a series of box-like shapes. Box chain necklaces are a contemporary design that can be layered to create a bolder impact.
Should I choose Silver or Gold chains?
We get asked this question a lot, and to be honest, we think you should go with whatever colour you love. Which metal colour to wear as jewellery has been traditionally chosen by people's skin tones. Warmer coloured skin is considered more suited to gold jewellery, while cooler skin tones were more associated with silver metals. You can easily tell your skin tone by looking at the veins in your wrists. People with blue veins on their wrists or those who easily burn are usually considered to have cool skin colouring. People with green veins, olive or darker skin tones and who tan easily are considered to have a warm skin colouring. But who says that you have to choose one or the other, we think mixing metals can also create a stylish look.
Things to consider when choosing a Silver Chain
Other than styles, a few other things to consider when choosing your new silver chain piece are:
- What thickness would you like? Chunky or delicate.
- What length of chain would suit you or your outfit best? Choker style or chest-length? You can use our size guide to help you determine which length is best.
- What material is it? All of our silver chains are silver plated, tarnish free and water resistant.
